Proclamation of swimming competition

O.F.TH.A Swimming club of Alexandroupolis in cooperation with the municipality of Alexandroupolis and the Swimming Committee of the Region of East Macedonia & Thrace and under the auspices of the Hellenic Swimming Federation organises the International Swimming Meeting called “FAROS – ELENA SAIRI 2023” which will take place in Alexandroupolis from the 21^st to the 23^rd of April 2023.

The swimming competition will be conducted at the municipal swimming pool of Alexandroupolis «Dimosthenis Michalentzakis» 50 m with 10 lanes with an OMEGA timer, according to the international rules of swimming provided by FINA. The recorded times will be official and recorded to the archive of the Hellenic Swimming Federation.

The results of the event are going to be displaced to the billboard 10 minutes after the end of each event.  

The performances achieved, are going to be taken into account in the context of the swimmers’ participation to the Men/Women World Championship and Junior World Championship, European Swimming Championship M (U23) – W (U21) and Junior European Swimming Championship, as well as the National Swimming Championships.

SECTIONS OF THE SWIMMING COMPETITION

The Competition will take place in 5 sections:

1^st section – Friday 21/4/2023 Afternoon

Warm-up starts at 16:30 – Race starts at 17:30  

2^nd section – Saturday 22/4/2023 Morning

Warm-up starts at 08:30 – Race starts at 09:30 – Qualifying series  

3^rd section – Saturday 23/4/2023 Afternoon

Warm- up starts at 16:15 – Opening Ceremony of the event starts at 17:15 – Race starts at 17:30 – Final   

4^th section – Sunday 23/4/2023 Morning

Warm- up starts at 08:30 – Race starts at 09:30 – Qualifying series 

5^th section – Sunday 23/4/2023 Afternoon

Warm- up starts at 15:30 – Race starts at 16:30 – Final 

RULES OF PARTICIPATION:

• All the members of Hellenic Swimming Federation will be able to participate (with swimmers aged from 13 and above), as well as all teams from abroad which will show interest in participating.
• All participating, together with their statement of participation, shall submit the club’s recognition from the General Secretariat of Sports.    
• Each swimmer is allowed to participate up to 4 individual races in total and no more than 2 per swimming section.
• “Out of competition” participation will not be accepted.
• Swimmers from abroad will be able to participate with performances they achieved during international swimming competitions or any competition organised by their national swimming federation.
• The morning section will include the qualifying series that will take place as follows: The event will start with 3 heats including the swimmers with the best performances (hereinafter referred to as “fastest heats”), followed by a 30- minute warm-up, after which the remaining heats are going to take place. The afternoon section will include the Finals which are going to take place in two heats (final A and final B) including the 16 fastest swimmers up to the events of 200 meters. In case there are less than 6 swimmers competing in final B, the final B shall not take place.
• The event of 400 meters freestyle shall be conducted in qualifying series during the morning section. During the afternoon section, there is going to be one final heat, including the 8 fastest performances.
• The event of 400 meters individual medley shall be conducted in final series.
• The events of 1500 meters freestyle women and 800 meters freestyle men shall be conducted in one final heat, including the 8 fastest performances that will be submitted before the competition.  
• The events of 1500 meters freestyle men and 800 meters freestyle women shall be contacted in two final heats, including the 16 fastest performances that will be submitted before the competition.
• The participation fee for each swimmer is 20 euros (3 euros will be given to the Hellenic Swimming Federation according to its decision with number 622/e, 30/1/2018) and are expected to be submitted to the secretariat before the competition starts.
• Individual races will be conducted (according to the international regulations of FINA and the regulations of the Hellenic Swimming Federation) in series beginning with the slowest and concluding with the fastest performance (hereinafter referred to as “OPEN series”).
• Performances that will be taken into shall be the fastest ones that were achieved in an official competition after the 1st of January 2022, in a 50-meter-length pool.
• During the event all health measures provided by the General Secretariat of Sports and the Hellenic Swimming Federation will be strictly inforced.

TROPHIES:

• Medals will be awarded to the first three winners of the Finals.
• Best swimmers (woman/man) will be awarded with 300€ each. The title will be awarded according to the FINA Point Scoring.
• Swimmers who perform new national record times will be awarded with 100€ (or gifts of the same value) each.

PARTICIPATION SUBMISSIONS:

The deadline for participation submissions is Monday, 10^th of April 2023. In order for the submission to be considered successful, the sheets of participation shall be sent to the office of the Regional Swimming Committee of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (FAX: 2510223434, email: pekoanmath@yahoo.gr) and to the email of the organizing swimming club (email: oftha.alexandroupolis@gmail.com).

The deadline for an occurring cancelations or corrections is Wednesday, 19^th of April 2023, 14:00 (EET), which is the time when the final participation sheet will be uploaded online. No cancelations or corrections are going to be accepted after the deadline.

The participation sheets (per event and per swimming team) and the results of the competition will be uploaded to the webpage of the Hellenic Swimming Federation (www.koe.org.gr) in the section under the title “Regional Swimming Committee of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace – Announcements”.
