Proclamation of swimming competition
OFTHA Swimming club of Alexandroupolis in cooperation with the municipality of Alexandroupolis and the Swimming Committee of the Region of East Macedonia & Thrace and under the auspices of the Hellenic Swimming Federation organizes the International Swimming Meeting “FAROS – ELENA SAIRI 2024” which will take place in the city of Alexandroupolis from 23rd to 25th of February 2024.
The competition will be conducted at the municipal swimming pool of Alexandroupolis «Dimosthenis Michalentzakis» 50 m with 10 lanes equipped with OMEGA timing system and will follow the WORLD AQUATICS rules.
The recorded times will be official and registered to the archive of the Hellenic Swimming Federation.
The results of the events are going to be displaced to the billboard 10 minutes after the end of each event.
The competition is approved as a qualifying event for the Olympic Games Paris 2024
by WORLD AQUATICS.
EVENT PROGRAMME
The Competition will take place in 5 sessions:
1st session – Friday 23/2/2024 Afternoon
Warm-up starts at 16:30 – Race starts at 17:30
2nd session – Saturday 24/2/2024 Morning
Warm-up starts at 08:30 – Race starts at 09:30 – Qualifying series
3rd session – Saturday 24/2/2024 Afternoon
Warm- up starts at 16:15 – Opening Ceremony of the event starts at 17:15 – Race starts at 17:30 – Final
4th session – Sunday 25/2/2024 Morning
Warm- up starts at 08:30 – Race starts at 09:30 – Qualifying series
5th session – Sunday 25/2/2024 Afternoon
Warm- up starts at 15:30 – Race starts at 16:30 – Final
RULES OF PARTICIPATION:
- Foreigner swimmers will be able to participate with times they achieved during international swimming competitions or any competition organized by their national swimming federation.
- Each swimmer is allowed to participate in up to 4 individual events in total and no more than 2 per swimming session.
- “Out of competition” participations will not be accepted.
- The morning session will include the Preliminary heats for all events, except those that will be conducted in Final heats. The afternoon session will include the Finals which are going to take place in two heats (“Final A” and “Junior Final”). Final A will include the swimmers with the 8 fastest times from the morning heats. “Junior Final” will include the swimmers with the 8 fastest times from the age group 13-16 years (y.o.b. 2011-2008, swimmers who have qualified for the “Final A” are excluded), up to the events of 400 meters. Medals will be awarded to the three fastest swimmers of each Final. Especially for the “Junior Final”, times from both Finals will be considered for the final classification. In case there are less than 6 swimmers competing in the “Junior Final”, the “Junior Final” shall not take place. At this case, times from the qualifying heats will be considered for the final classification, combined with the “Final A” times of the swimmers who have qualified for.
- The event of 400 meters individual medley shall be conducted in final heats.
- The events of 1500 meters freestyle women and 800 meters freestyle men shall be conducted in two final heats, including the 16 fastest times that will be submitted before the competition. The slowest heat will be conducted in the morning session and the fastest heat will be conducted in the afternoon session.
- The events of 1500 meters freestyle men and 800 meters freestyle women shall be contacted in two final heats, including the 16 fastest times that will be submitted before the competition.
- The participation fee for each swimmer is 23 euros (3 euros will be given to the Hellenic Swimming Federation according to its decision with number 622/e, 30/1/2018) and are expected to be submitted to the secretariat before the competition starts.
- The event shall be conducted according to the Integrity Code of WORLD AQUATICS for the sport of swimming and all individual races will be conducted according to the international regulations of WORLD AQUATICS and the regulations of the Hellenic Swimming Federation) in heats starting with the slowest and concluding with the fastest times (hereinafter referred to as “OPEN series”).
- Submitted times will be the fastest ones, achieved in an official competition after the 1st of January 2023, in a 50-meter-length pool.
- The competition will be conducted under the supervision of a doctor and a lifeguard in a swimming pool that has a sports facility license.
TROPHIES:
- Medals will be awarded to the first three winners of each of the Finals.
- Best swimmers (woman/man) will be awarded with 300€ each. The title will be awarded according to the WORLD AQUATICS Swimming Point System.
- Greek swimmers who achieve new national record will be awarded with 100€ (or gifts of the same value) each.
PARTICIPATION SUBMISSIONS:
The deadline for participation submissions is Monday, 12th of February 2024. In order for the submission to be considered successful, the sheets of participation shall be sent to the office of the Regional Swimming Committee of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (FAX: 2510223434, email: pekoanmath@yahoo.gr) and to the email of the organizing swimming club (email: oftha.alexandroupolis@gmail.com).
The deadline for occurring cancelations or corrections is Wednesday, 21st of February 2024, 14:00 (EET), which is the time when the final participation sheet will be uploaded online. No cancelations or corrections are going to be accepted after the deadline.
The participation sheets (per event and per swimming team) and the results of the competition will be uploaded to the webpage of the Hellenic Swimming Federation (www.koe.org.gr) in the session under the title “Regional Swimming Committee of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace – Announcements”.
